SOURCE BASE OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS’ FOREIGN LANGUAGE TRAINING IN TECHNICAL HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS OF UKRAINE (1940S – EARLY 21ST CENTURY)
Abstract
The article is devoted to the source base of the development of foreign language training of students in technical higher education institutions of Ukraine (from the 1940s to the early 21st century).
Based on the analysis of the development of foreign language training of students in technical higher education institutions of Ukraine during the specified period and taking into account the findings of scholarly research, the source base of the study has been classified into six main groups: normative legal acts; archival materials; curricula, syllabi, textbooks, manuals, teaching and methodological guides, dictionaries, reference books, and methodological recommendations; narrative sources; periodical publications; digital resources.
It is emphasized that the systematized complex of normative legal documents (from the 1940s to the early 21st century) makes it possible to trace the evolution of the legal framework governing higher technical education, to identify the specific features of the organization of foreign language training, and to determine the patterns of transformation of its regulatory environment.
Particular attention is drawn to the significant role of the third group of sources in reflecting changes in the structure and organization of foreign language training in technical higher education institutions of Ukraine. This group includes curricula, syllabi, textbooks, manuals, teaching and methodological materials, dictionaries, reference books, and methodological recommendations published from the 1940s to the early 21st century, which allow for assessing the transformation of foreign language training within technical higher education institutions.
Further research is envisaged in the analysis of transformations in the normative and legal regulation of foreign language training in technical higher education institutions of Ukraine (1940s – early 21st century).
