Abstract

The article analyzes the problems and prospects of charity in the field of education in the USA.
It is studied that the modern stages and aspects of state regulation of charity in the field of education in the USA, and in particular higher education institutions, are objectively related to the widespread use of charity.
It is agreed that the 19th century in the USA was marked by the emergence of the first charitable foundations, known as trusts. Attention is focused on the most promising charitable foundations by John Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, Olivia Sage, The Ford Foundation and The Rockefeller Foundation.
The main features of higher education institutions in the USA, which differ in the level of accreditation (accredited and unaccredited), form of ownership (public and private), duration of study (two-year and four-year) and other criteria, in particular with a wide range of scholarship programs that are launched on a charitable basis by charitable foundations, are considered.
Accordingly, scholarships and scholarship programs were analyzed, namely University scholarships (merit-based scholarships and need-based scholarships); Assistantship; Sports scholarships in the USA.
US government programs were identified that offer a wide range of scholarships for foreign students Year Program, Global Ugrad and The English Access Microscholarship Program.
Focus was placed on scholarships, grants and awards from non-profit organizations, in particular the American Association of University Women (AAUW) for women scientists, for women from other countries, for chosen professions and others.
It has been concluded that in modern higher education in the USA certain trends in the development of charity have been identified, which in turn are aimed at helping those in need through the provision of scholarships, scholarship programs, grants and awards.
