THE IMPORTANCE OF THE FORTIFICATION STRUCTURES OF KHMELNYTSKYI REGION IN STUDENTS’ TRAINING FOR THE SPECIALTY IN THE FIELD OF TOURISM AND RECREATION

Abstract

The importance of the fortifications of Khmelnytskyi region in students’ training for the specialty in the field of tourism and recreation has been revealed. In modern conditions, fortifications are an important component of tourist attractiveness. The problems of preservation and effective use of fortifications are traditionally in the sphere of scientific interests of researchers.

At Tourism and Recreation specialty, the discipline "Excursions" is studied, where students get acquainted with fortifications of Khmelnytskyi region. In the historical and architectural heritage of Ukraine, an important place is occupied by defensive structures - fortresses, castles, defensive churches and city fortifications. For centuries, defensive structures were key elements of the protection of cities and towns.

Most of the preserved castles, fortresses and monasteries are in Khmelnytskyi region. In recent years, a catalog of defensive structures of Ukraine from the earliest times to the 18th century, which includes castles, fortresses, monasteries, churches, synagogues and other objects, has been actively developed.

The main sights of the fortification architecture of Khmelnytskyi region are considered.

Kamianets-Podilskyi is famous for its fortress, which, due to its location on an "island" in the Smotrych canyon, had an important strategic importance. Today, Kamianets-Podilskyi fortress is a historical and cultural reserve and a popular tourist destination. Medzhybizh fortress is the second most beautiful and popular among tourists fortification ensemble in Khmelnytskyi region. The famous Sataniv Castle is a medieval fortress in Zbruch. Letychiv Castle is located on a high promontory formed by the confluence of the Southern Bug and Vovk rivers. Izyaslav, an important city of Bolokhiv land, is located on the southern edge of the wide meadow part of Horyn. Today, only parts of the 16th-18th century Old Kostiantyn Castle remain. Defensive monuments occupy a special place in the historical and architectural heritage of Ukraine.
