GLOBAL TRENDS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF BILINGUAL EDUCATION IN UKRAINE
Abstract
The global trends of bilingual education in the modern multicultural space of Ukraine have been highlighted in the article. The expediency of increasing the creative attitude to the leading principles and content of bilingual education has been substantiated. The expediency of the variability of bilingual education has been singled out, since each region has its own multilingual features. It is determined that the harmonization of social and personal under the conditions of bilingualism relies on the growing role of informal education, the framework of which is not as strict as for state educational institutions. The development of the research environment, when the phenomena of bilingual education are analysed and directed to the search for positive experience in this area, has been highlighted.
It is shown the need to reconcile the ideas of bilingualism with the development of multilingual education, when there are language groups in a small region that are unable to form their own separate school. An important trend has been singled out, which implies resistance to the unification and bureaucratization of bilingual education, when a significant part of the time of the teaching staff or the team of teachers is spent working with documentation, reducing the time for the performance of the teacher's direct duties. The influence of information and communication technologies and distance education on the development of bilingual education, their positive and negative trends (easily available translators, use of artificial intelligence, loss of interest in one's ethnic language and in learning foreign languages, etc.) have been revealed. The changes in requirements for the modern teacher and his/her functions at the qualitative level, when the teacher turns into an intermediate link between the student and the knowledge bases that are laid out in the Internet and libraries, have been analysed. Such trends as the growth of student mobility and the impact of demographic changes on education have been taken into account. The role of increasing the flexibility of the educational system and educational space has been highlighted. It is determined that in addition to global trends in the development of bilingual education, there are also local trends. The peculiarities of the educational process have been analysed on the example of Japan, where positive experience has been accumulated that should be adopted and spread, especially regarding the educational process and the development of ethnographic traditions, in contrast to regions with cosmopolitan views on education.
