Stages of patriotic education in schools of Ukraine of the second half of the XX century
Abstract
The basic stages of formation of patriotic education in the schools of Ukraine of the second half of the twentieth century are revealed in the scientific article, namely: the first (the beginning of the 1950’s); the second (1956-1964); the third (mid 1960’s - early 1980’s); the fourth (late 1980’s - 1991); the fifth (the 90’s of the XX century).
The peculiarities are considered and the interrelation of each of the selected stages of formation of patriotic education in the specified historical period is substantiated. The structure and the order of organization of patriotic education in the Soviet period of the second half of XX century and 90th of the last century are determined. It is also emphasized that patriotic education was a part of communist education in the first three periods, as well as in the fourth period.
The normative legal support of patriotic upbringing of students in the studied period is analyzed. Attention is drawn to the fact that with the change of life in the country at the end of the twentieth century, there was a process of reorientation of patriotism (from communist to humanistic). Generally, in Soviet times patriotic upbringing of students was carried out systematically and constantly. With the declaration of independence, education in Ukraine began to be based on the principles of humanism, national patriotism and national consciousness. It is established that such areas of work as giving students a real opportunity to create their own associations (clubs, societies, circles); establishing cooperation between the school and the family in the issues of patriotic education of the student’s personality; coordination of students’ leisure time; organization of pedagogically appropriate search and local history activities, as well as socially useful work of students deserve to be restored, preserved and further used in the current conditions of development of the Ukrainian state.
