Abstract
The article deals with the historiographical sources of future railway workers’ training in the educational institutions of Southern Ukraine in the second half of the XX – beginning of the XXI century. The author analyses the historiography of the Soviet period and the period of independence of Ukraine. There are two groups among the historiographical sources of future railway workers’ training: 1) the works that were published in 1950–1990, that is the Soviet period of the historiography; 2) the works of the period of independence of Ukraine (1991–2019).
The first group is divided into two parts: 1) the 50s-70s of XX century; 2) the end of the 70s – 90s of the twentieth century. Each group is characterized and it is proved that works of the first group related to vocational-technical and secondary special education were mostly published by representatives of pedagogical sciences. Furthermore, authors started to use archival materials that caused the creation of the first generalizing works on the history of vocational education. The second part is characterized by the reinterpretation of the ways for the development of vocational, technical and secondary special education, which is caused by a number of legislative acts and regulations in this field. The works of that period paid attention to the content of training and improvement of professional training. There were works on the development of a network of educational institutions and the intensification of the educational process.
The second group is also divided into two groups: 1) 90s-2000s; 2) early 2000s - to the present. The author has revealed some features of the works of the first part in the second group mentioning a decrease in research interest in educational issues. But at the same time there were works researching the vocational education system not only at the state level but investigating regional peculiarities. The second part of works in this group is highly productive in issues related to the improvement of vocational education. There is considerable interest in the industry-specific vocational education.
The author makes a conclusion that the issue of future railway workers’ training in educational institutions of Southern Ukraine in the Soviet period and the period of independence of Ukraine has not been studied as a problem of independent study, it needs a comprehensive investigation.
