FEATURES OF RETRAINING OF SCHOOL PRINCIPALS OF GENERAL SECONDARY EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS AT DIFFERENT STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT OF POSTGRADUATE EDUCATION

Abstract

The article is devoted to the issue of the need to improve the postgraduate education of school heads of general secondary education institutions in accordance with modern requirements of the educational industry. It is found that an important prerequisite for the implementation of education reform is a high level of professional qualification of school heads of general secondary education institutions. The importance for improving the system of training, retraining and advanced training of school principals has been substantiated by applying and taking into account the peculiarities of the acquired pedagogical experience in the organization of these processes. The main historical stages have been considered, and the specific features of the development of postgraduate education of school heads of general secondary education institutions have been determined.
The conducted historical-pedagogical analysis of the organizational and substantive foundations of the process of improving the qualifications of school principals has shown that the researched process was formed under the influence of the historical conditions of the formation and development of the education system. Advanced training of school principals at the beginning of the 50s of the 20th century had a non-permanent, episodic nature of conducting courses as the main forms of postgraduate education of teachers. However, gradually during the second half of the 20th century considerable experience was accumulated in the organization of professional improvement of leading pedagogical staff. The process of improving the qualifications of school principals is becoming centralized, scientific and methodical activities of institutions for improving the qualifications of pedagogical personnel are carried out, aimed at optimizing the structure of the professional improvement of teachers. The development of postgraduate education of leading pedagogical staff and its features at different historical stages depended to a large extent on changes in socio-political, economic and other conditions, as well as the needs of the functioning of the educational sector. Due to evolutionary changes at the end of the 80s of the 20th century, the postgraduate education of school principals of general secondary education institutions was formed as a whole system. During the 32 years of the independent Ukrainian state, the postgraduate education of school heads of general secondary education institutions has acquired a variable structure, involvement in direct educational practice, which contributes to the implementation of individual strategies for the formation and personality development of the school principal of a general secondary education institution.
