General technical training of marine specialists as a subject of a pedagogical study
Abstract
Based on the analysis of the source base of investigation, the article reveals the content of the concept «general technical training of marine specialists».
The author has stated that in the general sense, general technical training is a widely used pedagogical concept. However, its content must be clarified in accordance with the specifics of the particular direction of education applicants’ training and taking into account the current level of technical and technological development. The initial concept, the author has noted, is the concept of engineering. According to the results of studying the approaches of scientists to the disclosure of its content, it was established that the concept of «engineering» has several definitions. The definition of technical knowledge is also presented for consideration and attention is focused on its specific features. These features include the practical direction of technical knowledge and its socio-scientific nature. It is further identified that certain specificity is also observed during the characterization of general technical disciplines as those through which technical knowledge is mastered: general technical disciplines are complex; they are interdisciplinary or even interdisciplinary; their aim is to a greater extent to study systems «man – machine».
According to the results of studying the sources of the research, it was found in pedagogical science there is no clear definition of general technical training in the context of marine education. General technical training of specialists in the maritime industry considers by the author as a holistic process of acquiring system of competencies related to the application of relevant knowledge in the field of engineering in general and marine in particular in the study of professional disciplines and directly in the professional environment (on board).
