Ecologists usually interact with top management of enterprises, groups of ecologists, business entities; the content of professional situations directs their speech behavior. The complete realization of ecologists’ roles and functions is ensured by mastering of an advanced level of English for Professional Purposes that implies the acquisition of English professionally oriented competence in oral professionally-oriented communication. The components of English competence in professionally oriented communication are: skills (speech, learning, intellectual, organizational, compensatory ones); speech skills (receptive and productive ones); knowledge (declarative and procedural ones) and communicative aptitudes. In communication the lexis takes the main communicative load. The acquisition of English lexical competence furnishes the correct lexical presentation of oral utterances in monological and dialogical speeches; it also provides a successful organization of oral communication. The current functional dialogues are: dialogue-enquiry, dialogue-agreement, dialogue-exchange of thoughts, dialogue-discussion and debate. A professionally-oriented dialogue that is situational, emotionally coloured and spontaneous requires the usage of speech formula, communicative tactics. The current functional monologues are: monologue-notification (report), monologue-persuasion, monologue-presentation (report and advertising). A professionally-oriented monologue that possesses considerable informative potential encourages an interlocutor to take part in communication with a certain discussion to follow.
