THE PROBLEM OF RAILWAY EXPERTS TRAINING (BEGINNING OF THE XXI CENTURY)
Abstract
The article analyses some problems of railway transport expertstraining taking into account various aspects of training (at the level of education, at the level of the railway industry). The author states that today the specialties in the field of railway transport, which are offered by vocational schools and institutions of professional higher education are not sufficiently popular, and the demand for railway majors is relatively low. The author identifies the main problems of railway transport expertstraining and suggests ways to solve them. They are the following: lack of updating of professional competencies in educational programs; lack of a well-established link between educational institutions and employers; low prestige of vocational education; lack or low level of continuity of the educational process. In the article the author came to the conclusion that educational programs do not keep up with the development of scientific and technological progress, so the author considers it appropriate to update educational programs annually taking into account the latest trends in the industry. To ensure a good connection between education and employers, the Ministry of Education and Science must constantly analyse and monitor the development of the labour market in the industry, make the necessary changes in public procurement to provide the necessary number of specialists for the industry. To increase the prestige of vocational education, it is necessary to create a number of conditions that would ensure the influx of applicants to institutions of vocational and professional higher education. Ensuring continuity of education will enable future entrants to receive continuing education at all levels of education. More attention should be paid to the formation of soft competencies, which are essential in today’s labour market. Providing educational institutions with the necessary materials, textbooks, manuals, improving the training of foreign language teachers in their professional field, developing communicative competencies in foreign languages, etc. can help to increase the level of foreign language proficiency.
