SOCIO-HUMANITARIAN TRAINING OF FUTURE MARITIME SPECIALISTS AT THE END OF XX – THE BEGINNING OF XXI CENTURY
Abstract
The article considers the social and humanitarian training of future marine specialists in the late XX – early XXI century. With the adoption of the Law of Ukraine "On Education" of May 23, 1991 and in accordance with the instruction letter of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine No 1 / 9-64 of May 19, 1993 "On teaching social sciences and humanities" humanization and humanitarianization of education was introduced. It is stated that in the studied chronological period the number of socio-humanitarian cycle subjects is growing, and their list includes the following disciplines: "World History", "Ukrainian language", "Ukrainian literature", "Business Ukrainian language", "World literature ","History of Ukraine", "Philosophy with Religious Studies", "Science of Law", "English", "Pre-service training of young people", "Fundamentals of Social Ecology", "Political Science", "Sociology", "Ukrainian and Foreign Culture". The annual reports of maritime education institutions also indicate active humanization, in particular the search for ways to humanize the teaching of technical subjects. It is emphasized that maritime education is a subject not only of state regulations, but also of the international documents’ requirements, one of the most important is the "International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers". It is concluded that in the period of late XX – early XXI century the socio-humanitarian training of future marine specialists begins its active development. The cycle of social sciences and humanities, since 1993, has been replenished with new subjects that ensure the comprehensive development of future marine professionals and encourage decision-making in professional activities, taking into account morality, spirituality and tolerance.
