Abstract

The article raises the current problem of development of speech culture of teachers of modern educational institutions. It is convincingly proved that educators first of all, a high level should be inherent speech culture, that it should be their professional duty, because it is the teacher who should serve as a speech model for young students.

The article presents the views of prominent representatives of Ukrainian science and culture (I. Ogienko, V. Sukhomlynsky, O. Bilyaev, O. Ponomarev, M. Pentyliuk, etc.) on the importance of high culture of teacher speech and its decisive role in the formation of language personality in students. young people.

The author cites a number of features that characterize exemplary speech in general, and the teacher in particular, if he cares about his professional development. It is emphasized that the language personality of the teacher should be characterized by a responsible attitude to language, speech, to a particular word; ability to hear and analyze one's own and another's speech; the ability to improve one's speech throughout life as a conscious need; the presence of an active civil position on the development of language stability, etc.

In particular, the article schematically outlines the typical shortcomings in the speech of a modern school teacher, which must be addressed now, to eradicate the negative trend towards mass leveling of modern literary language, their outright neglect in professional activities. This is a wrong pronunciation (in particular, hissing sounds and affricates dz, j; ringing sounds at the end of the word); violation of the use of appeals (ignoring the accusative case); impersonal verb forms on - but, -to; combination of consonants -tsya, -shsya); neglect of the rules of melodiousness; superficial acquaintance with the new edition of the Ukrainian spelling; incorrect accentuation of words; use of surzhik and excessive enthusiasm for language borrowing, etc.

Ways to increase the level of teacher speech culture in postgraduate education are proposed.
