Abstract

The article deals with education in humanities in maritime educational institutions of Ukraine (1965-1972). The lower limit was chosen 1965, when a number of points of the 1958 reform were refused, namely the return to 10-year secondary education, the priority of full-time education in universities, the reduction of benefits for entry to higher education for industrial workers for employment term.

It was emphasized that the key to the 1965 reform was the move to comprehensive secondary education, which was declared a priority of Soviet educational policy.

The upper limit was chosen 1972, when the results of the 1965 reform were summed up in the Resolution of the Central Committee of the CPSU and the Council of Ministers of the USSR "About Completion of the Move to Comprehensive Secondary Education". A brief description of the state of the marine sphere of this period of time is given. In 1965-1972, considerable attention was paid to maritime education, because during this period important events took place in the life of the state and in particular in the maritime sphere. The curriculum of 1965-1967, 1972 of the Maritime College of the Kherson State Maritime Academy and the curriculum of 1967-1972 of the Kherson office branch of the Nikolaev Shipbuilding Institute are considered, the total number of hours devoted for study was determined and the number of hours devoted for the study of the humanities was analyzed, as well as which humanities were studied in each of the year of study. During this period there is a widespread introduction of automation and mechanization in maritime transport, so this is reflected in the curriculum of this period, where special disciplines are allocated much more time than the humanities. It was determined that great importance was attached to the ideological and technical components of training, so specialists had to have not only theoretical knowledge and practical skills, but also had to be educated in the spirit of Marxism-Leninism.
