Abstract

The article highlights the significance of the academic discipline “Psychological Support and Rehabilitation” in shaping the professional competence of future psychologists in higher education institutions. The relevance of the study is determined by the current social challenges faced by Ukrainian society as a result of military actions, increased stress levels, losses, and social tension, which in turn create a growing demand for high-quality psychological assistance and rehabilitation services. The content of the course is analyzed, and its comprehensive focus on the development of professional knowledge, practical skills, crisis counseling abilities, communicative competence, ethical responsibility, and readiness for interdisciplinary cooperation is outlined. Particular attention is paid to the role of interactive and practice-oriented teaching methods, including case studies, role-playing, trainings, interdisciplinary workshops, online simulations, and supervised practice, which ensure the integration of theoretical knowledge with the real needs of professional activity. Using the experience of V. I. Vernadsky Taurida National University as an example, the study demonstrates that a systematic combination of theory and practice contributes to the formation of students’ professional motivation, critical thinking, professional identity, and readiness to act in uncertain and crisis situations. The positive impact of the discipline on preparing specialists capable of effectively responding to psychosocial challenges and providing comprehensive support to various population groups is emphasized. The article concludes that further research on methodological conditions enhancing the effectiveness of the educational process is needed, as well as flexible adaptation of the course to the changing social environment and the demands of professional practice. The presented materials may be useful for teachers, curriculum developers, educational project managers, and specialists in psychological education and rehabilitation.
