Abstract

The article analyses the challenges and prospects of introducing modern information and communication technologies in higher education institutions of Ukraine.
It is established that information and communication technologies (ICTs) are a key factor in the transformation of higher education, contributing to the modernisation of the educational process, ensuring open access to knowledge and improving the administrative management of higher education institutions (HEIs). In the current context of digitalisation of education, ICTs are becoming an integral part of the learning environment, influencing both methodological approaches to teaching and the ways students learn.
The article focuses on the analysis of current trends in the use of ICTs in higher education in Ukraine. In particular, the role of distance learning is considered, which has become particularly relevant in the context of global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. The author analyses the functionality of digital educational platforms, cloud technologies and automated learning management systems that allow optimising the interaction between teachers and students, improving the efficiency of learning and providing convenient access to educational materials.
Particular attention is paid to the impact of digitalisation on pedagogical strategies that involve the active use of interactive technologies, gamification, virtual and augmented reality, which contribute to the development of critical thinking, creativity and practical skills of students. The article also highlights the development of digital competencies of both students and teachers, since the effective use of ICT requires appropriate training and adaptation of traditional teaching methods.
The article discusses the key challenges associated with the introduction of ICTs in higher education: cybersecurity issues, threats to personal data, digital inequality among students and teachers, the need to constantly update hardware and software. Prospects for further development of the digital educational environment in Ukraine are outlined, taking into account global trends and opportunities for integrating innovative technologies into the educational process.
The results of the study may be useful for educators, scientists, university managers, as well as for developers of educational technologies who seek to improve the higher education system and adapt it to the new conditions of the digital age.
