THE ROLE OF CLUB ACTIVITIES IN THE TOLERANCE FORMATION IN ADOLESCENTS TO CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
Abstract
The article shows the role of club activities in the tolerance formation in adolescents to children with special educational needs. It has been emphasized that the club as an institution of socialization affects pupils in a variety of ways and performs a number of special functions unique to it.
The attention has been focussed on the need for proper organization of the club’s activities, in particular, that the important condition is the voluntary entry of adolescents into the club, without coercion by adults.
It has been underlined that in order to successfully achieve the goals and objectives of the club activities program, the correct approach to club management by teachers is necessary (the main strategic goals of the club are determined by teachers, and specific activities and tactical plans are submitted to the Club Council and discussed by its members).
The data on testing on the basis of the school-gymnasium of Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan) of the club activities program to develop tolerance in adolescents to children with special educational needs have been presented. At the first stage of its implementation, the tolerance level of the attitude of adolescents to children with special educational needs has been determined through several diagnostic methods. The results were not encouraging.
The club’s program included various forms and methods of work (conversations, psychological and pedagogical training courses, creative activities, educational and leisure activities, etc.) and proved its effectiveness (there were changes to increase the indicators of tolerance levels). In addition, adolescents expressed a desire to continue their activities in the club.
It has been stated that the tolerance formation in adolescents to children with special educational needs in club activities is advisable and leads to positive changes in the cognitive, motivational and behavioural components in the joint interaction in communication, sports, learning, leisure, and various educational activities.
