PROBLEMS OF FORMING CADETS' FOREIGN LANGUAGE COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE DURING MARTIAL LAW
Abstract
The article deals with the basic concepts of foreign language communicative competence of future officers and the peculiarities of its formation during martial law.
The article analyses scientific works on the formation of foreign language communicative competence, identifies the main problems that arise in mastering a foreign language, and suggests ways to overcome them.
The main difficulties in forming foreign language communicative competence in cadets are identified as a lack of qualified teachers, a lack of personal motivation among higher education students, and a lack of understanding of the ultimate goal of learning a foreign language and improving the effectiveness of foreign language communication. The article also considers the impact of a full-scale war, which does not allow for a systematic, and logical sequence of classes with cadets, which in turn negatively impacts the process of forming foreign language communication competence.
The ways of solving the problems of forming foreign language communicative competence in cadets are identified, such as individualization of training, motivation, and explanation, in particular by own example, of the importance of learning a foreign language, integration of a foreign language, and specialized military disciplines. The importance of using modern interactive teaching methods is emphasized. Artificial intelligence and social media resources with educational and military professional materials can be used in the course of classes with higher education students. Such approaches to teaching can increase the motivation of cadets to learn a foreign language, enable them to master Western-style military equipment more efficiently and study technical documentation and guidelines in a foreign language.
It is concluded that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the importance of foreign language proficiency of the officers of the Ukrainian Defence Forces and the need to develop foreign language communication competence among military specialists have increased significantly. Since the introduction of martial law, there has been a need to optimize the organization of the educational process because of the conditions of the special period. The article emphasizes the importance of foreign language proficiency for military personnel, the significant role of intercultural and foreign language communication in the professional activities of officers, and the need to develop foreign language communication competence, which can be considered one of the most important personal qualities of a modern military specialist, especially in the context of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's interoperability with the armed forces of partner countries, in particular, the North Atlantic Alliance.
