Abstract

The article deals with the historical and pedagogical aspect of the problem of professionalization of teaching staff in Ukrainian educational institutions during the XXth - XXIst centuries. It is suggested to change what happened in the school language education and organization working in educational institutions and postgraduate education in wide chronology. In particular, the search covers the entire Soviet period of development of the Ukrainian people and the period of functioning education during the period of independence of Ukraine.
Considering the professionalisation of the teacher as a process of his professional training and continuous professional development during his/her life, the attention was focused on the analysis of the possibilities of mastering the teaching profession and the continuous growth of teachers-philologists, that was provided at different stages of the development of national education. Systematic analysis of historical and pedagogical sources using search-bibliographic, retrospective, chronological methods made it possible to notice a number of contradictions in these issues during the period and to establish the positive dynamics of education development, which resulted from their solution.
Having observed the directions of educational reforms and the nature of innovations in the activities of the educational institutions of that time and improving the qualification of teachers, the causes of complications in their implementation at different stages of the analyzed period were identified, the constructive and destructive approaches made to improve the state of education and improve the mechanisms of its development were identified.
The result of the study of scientific-pedagogical literature, analysis of archival data was the identification of factors and major trends in the development of pedagogical education in Ukraine. The above mentioned gave an opportunity to predict and outline the prospects for the development of the system of national education, in particular on the issues of forming the professional competence of teachers of subjects of the humanities and the continuous improvement of their qualification by means of postgraduate education.
