ACTUAL PROBLEMS OF SPIRITUAL AND MORAL EDUCATION OF PERSONALITY ON THE BASIS OF CHRISTIAN ANTHROPOLOGY
Abstract
The development of education in Ukraine in its historical context indicates a significant role of the religion and church in the education of personality. Christianity has been the leading religion on the territory of our country for over a thousand years. The future of our country directly depends on the restoration, development and preservation of traditional Christian spiritual and moral values, education of children and youth on the basis of Christian anthropology.
Consideration of problems and scientific solutions of modern tasks of spiritual and moral education of personality requires studying the experience of both scientists and teachers of past generations, as well as modern developments of domestic and European Christian scientists.
The works of Christian scientists-classics of domestic pedagogy are the foundation on which spiritual and moral education should be based. They saw the crisis of education and upbringing in the middle of the 19th century − the beginning of the 20th century in the detachment of pedagogy from Christian anthropology, the replacement of the Christian orientation of pedagogy with secular science. The returning pedagogy to the foundation of a complete Christian world outlook was considered as the main task. The spiritual and moral education of personality, the development and strengthening of forces in the soul of a child, the restoration and disclosure of the image and likeness of God in the soul were defined as the leading goals of education.
Modern Christian scientists define the purpose, tasks and principles of spiritual and moral education on Christian grounds, developing methods, means and tools of personality’s education in a modern school. By analogy with classical teachers, they pay considerable attention to the consideration of the teacher’s role, his special skills and spiritual and moral qualities. They see overcoming education and school crisis by the development of the spiritual and moral education of personality on the basis of Christian anthropology direction.
