Attention is focused on multicultural education as the basis for the formation of multicultural competence. It is noted that education based on the ideas of preparing the younger generation for life in a multinational and multicultural environment is able to bring up a person who will be tolerant in society in relation to the environment. The task of modern educational institutions is to develop the ability to communicate and cooperate with people of different nationalities, races, and faiths; to foster an understanding of the originality of other cultures, and to eliminate negative attitudes towards them. The article substantiates the opinion that the development of multicultural competence is promoted by ideological, content, technological and linguistic components of multicultural education, which are consistent with the general trends in the development of a single civilization. Attention is focused on the fact that the teacher as an organizer of communication should show interest in working with applicants; have the ability to understand it, have flexible thinking, be mobile, be able to make quick and correct decisions; during the educational process should constantly keep feedback with applicants; have skills of self-control and self-improvement.
It is emphasized that the most important part of the spiritual life of society and relationships between people is the basis of the culture of interethnic communication. An important role in this issue is played by the dialogue approach, which is based on the principle of tolerance.
