Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of foreign language training of specialists in engineering and natural specialties in the 50-60 years of the twentieth century.
Prerequisites for strengthening foreign language training of specialists in engineering and natural sciences in the 50-60 years of the twentieth century have been represented. It is highlighted such preconditions as: strengthening international cooperation and interaction among scientists of various technical and natural fields for the exchange of advanced practical scientific experience; the need for wide and rapid implementation of new scientific and technical achievements and research of scientific and technical information by specialists in engineering and natural specialties; the need to study and disseminate foreign best practices and present domestic ones on the world stage.
The need to master a professionally-oriented foreign language, including among specialists in engineering and natural sciences, has been emphasized. It is noted that during the study period there was an increase in measures to study foreign languages at all levels of higher education, including postgraduate.
It is emphasized that significant results of the strengthening of foreign language training in the 50-60 years of the twentieth century were the adoption of the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR "On Improving the Study of Foreign Languages" dated May 27, 1961, No. 468; the Instructional letter of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the USSR "On requirements for entrance and candidate (PhD) examinations in foreign languages" dated May 13, 1963 No. I-31; the Order of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the USSR "Regulations on two-year higher courses for the training of highly qualified foreign language lecturers for higher education institutions" dated January 8, 1962, No. 9.
