METHOD OF ASSESSING THE FORMATION OF FUTURE MILITARY ENGINEER’S SELF-EDUCATIONAL COMPETENCE

Abstract

The article deals the problem of creating a methodology for assessing the future military engineer’s self-educational competence. Studies of previous authors show that, firstly, the basis for creating a methodology for assessing the future specialist’s self-educational competence is the structure of this quality, based on which the criteria, indicators and diagnostic methods are selected; secondly, the future specialist’s self-educational competence is diagnosed mainly at three levels, although there are isolated studies, which consider four levels of manifestation of this quality; thirdly, despite the rather thorough development of criteria, indicators and levels of specialist’s self-educational competence formation, the method of assessing the formation of future military engineer’s self-educational competence was not the subject of special research.
There exist methods of assessing the formation of future military engineer’s self-educational competence. They include the following criteria: emotional-value with indicators: the level of cognitive needs, the level of motivation, the level of creativity; subject-personal, which is manifested by indicators: the level of communicative qualities, the adequacy of self-esteem, the level of independence; professional-organizational, characterized by indicators: the level of self-organization, the level of application of information and communication technologies, assessment of general training, assessment of professional training. Methods of its diagnosis are selected for each indicator.
There are also formulas for calculating grades for each criterion and the overall assessment of the formation of self-educational competence of the future military engineer. Based on the value of the formation of self-educational competence of the future military engineer they can be diagnosed at four levels: Self-starter (high) ; Breadwinner (sufficient) ; Clock watcher (elementary) and Wage slave (low). Along with the quantitative assessment of levels, their qualitative characteristics are given.
