Linguistic and psychological features of implementation of the Ukrainian language by foreign students of the preparatory department
Abstract
The article analyses linguistic and psychological features of mastering Ukrainian language by foreign students of the preparatory department. The focus is on interpreting the term »communication». The problem of taking into account the native language during the study of vocabulary of foreign students of the preparatory department has been raised. The expediency of using the text-centric approach in studying the Ukrainian language as a foreign language by the students of the preparatory department has been substantiated. In the article the text as a linguistic phenomenon is characterized by connectedness, integrity, intentionality, informativeness, situationality, membership, integrativeness and modality. The text-centric approach is to focus the educational process on the development of speech skills. At the base of the text-centric approach as a speech expression is the unity of linguistic, speech and spelling competences. The expediency of using texts on lessons of Ukrainian as a foreign language to form the communicative competence of foreign listeners has been substantiated. The article also covers theoretical and methodological problems of teaching Ukrainian language to foreign students at preparatory faculties on the basis of personally oriented, competent and communicative paradigms. The situation of preparation for external independent evaluation (EIA) of foreign students of the preparatory department has been outlined. Preparing students at the preparatory department for external independent assessment is an important part of the Ukrainian language textbook as a foreign language, because contributes to the development of communicative competence. Emphasis is placed on the perception and acquisition of foreign students of the preparatory department grammar and vocabulary by the Ukrainian language.
