Abstract

The article explores the characteristics of learning losses within the educational system, specifically focusing in higher education. The study highlights that this is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon encompassing academic, practical, psychological, social, motivational, and organizational dimensions. It also emphasizes the multidimensional impact of these losses on future professional training and the development of learners’ key competencies. In particular, psychological losses constitute a distinct dimension affecting learning outcomes. Under the influence of chronic stress, emotional distress, perceived danger, separation from family, or housing instability, students may experience a diminished capacity for effective cognitive activity.
Social losses manifest in disrupted interpersonal relationships, reduced social interaction, and limited opportunities for collaborative activities. Value-based and motivational losses affect students’ attitudes toward education and career choices, often leading to a decline in interest in their chosen fields of study and shifts in their life priorities.
The article highlights strategies for mitigating learning losses, including adaptive curricula, digital technologies, systematic psychological support, dual education, infrastructure modernization, and the professional development of educators. Flexible learning trajectories, modular programs, individualized schedules, and blended learning models help bridge knowledge gaps without causing academic overload. In addition, digital platforms, electronic resources, video lectures, and online courses significantly expand access to educational opportunities.
